Club fundraising
The North London Rifle Club is probably the oldest competitive rifle shooting organisation in the UK and possibly the world. Dating from 1880 and moving to Bisley between 1902-1904. There is a wealth of history, experience and knowledge residing within its walls. It is our aspiration to add to that history.
To build a successful Rutland team for the F-Class Target Rifle (F/TR) World Championships in 2026 it is imperative that communication and understanding of goals, parameters, evaluation methodology and roles is both clear and focussed on the team mission.
Membership of the team will require commitment in both time and material resources, acceptance and adoption the parameters of the project, and humility from all of us.
Those building the team will need to adopt a strategic approach to the recruitment of talent and set up a rigorous training mantra. Establishingclear lines of communication that enable candidates to submit competition and practice/developmental results and for those results to be objectively interrogated to evaluate candidate performance. Opportunities for competition team practices and testing strategies and logistics for team shooting at international level, will also have to be sourced.
What where why how who when
Here are the essential elements:
Team Mission:
· To deliver a team for the 2026 Bisley F-Class world Championships capable of taking a win. In doing so, reinforce the NLRC as UKs premier long distance shooting club
Team composition
· A Rutland F-TR team consists of between 4 and 8 shooters and their rolls are, Team captain, 4x shooters, wind coach, plotter and register keeper. We aim to have a team of 8 and, if recruitment goes well, will enter 2 teams.
Team selection
· Qualitative performance metrics from submissions will be used as initial filters, average scores, accuracy rates, consistency metrics, group positioning trends etc will be used to track progression.
· Shooters will have to commit to shooting in the FCWC individuals’ competitions.
· For the 8 shooters selected to make up the team, each shooters role within the team will be finalised during the individuals’ competitions.
Training Regimen
For UK shooters, the following training and competition resources are recommended.

· Guidance on techniques for competitive stress management, focus, and building confidence under competition conditions.
· Team firing position protocols.
For overseas competitors, Team protocols will be promulgated for integration and understanding. Results from their home competitions and practice/training sessions will need to be communicated via the team results channel to ensure they stay in touch with progress.
Rifles and Ammunition:
· Shooters should be aware of the equipment requirements. high-quality, match/competition-grade rifles chambered in .308 capable of shooting the Berger 200gr Hybrid or Berger 200.20x bullet hand loaded and developed to a minimum of ½ MOA accuracy and ensure their rifles are meticulously maintained.
· Shooters should be equipped with quality scopes, bipods, spotting scopes, wind meters and shooting mats.
Communication
· This will be established using end to end encrypted platforms and E-Mail to ensure team members can submit results of competitions, tests and practice sessions for evaluation. Its use is not optional.
Logistics, Planning and Credentials
· North London Rifle Club membership will be a requirement for the 2025 and 2026 seasons for shooters to qualify for membership of the team. Overseas shooters will be provided with full guidance on UK law and application processes. The North has a long history of hosting overseas shooters and you should expect a warm welcome.
· Team members will be responsible for their own compliant travel, shipping and accommodation arrangements but full assistance will be given to overseas competitors to ensure suitable accommodation near or on site at Bisley.
· A separate accommodation guidance note will be available for those requiring it.
· There are a variety of typical shooting catering facilities at Bisley which will be available during the FCWC for competitors but for those with specific dietary requirements we are happy to guide.
