Guest Days

We strive to help people who have never shot before to get involved and try the sport out. To do so, we facilitate a number of guest days every year (maximum of 12).

If you're interested, please email events@nlrc.org

There are some sensible restrictions on guests shooting with the club, for the club's protection and theirs.

These are described below. At the end of this section there is a list of upcoming declared "Guest Days".

Guests shooting at club events

Guests of the club may shoot at an event organised and run by the club provided they fall into at least one of these four categories:

So, in particular anyone who is a full member of another Home Office Approved club can shoot at a club event irrespective of whether he or she holds an FAC.

Also, an FAC holder who possesses the same types of firearms (those categories being smallbore rifle, fullbore rifle and muzzle loaded pistol) as the club's approval can shoot at a club event.

All guests who shoot at a club event must sign a declaration that they are not prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition by virtue of section 21, as amended, of the Firearms Act 1968 (which applies to persons who have served a term of imprisonment or been given a suspended sentence of three months or longer).

Any guest (even if an FAC holder) shooting at a club event either needs to hold a SCC (Shooter's Certification Card) that covers the type of firearm he/she is using, or be supervised personally by a full club member (or recognised coach) who holds an SCC for that type of firearm.

Note that if the only guests shooting at a specific club event are FAC holders and/or full members of Home Office Approved clubs, then the club does not need to declare that event a Guest Day and use up one of its annual allocation of 12 days.

If one or more guests does not meet this condition, then the club needs to declare the event a Guest Day and pre-notify the event: the Secretary will do this on request from the club's event organisers.
